Apr 04, 2022 (Evertise Digital via COMTEX) — From the global recession to an international pandemic, the road has been a bumpy one for businesses and individuals alike over much of the past decade. Despite the many hurdles that have been lobbed at the private and public sector over the past several years, the outlook for small businesses in the United States has seldom looked better.

Mahmoud Khattab, CEO of Precision M.D., shares his expert guidance on the state of private practices and small businesses in the United States today.

Rise of Small Businesses in Post-Pandemic America

The global COVID-19 pandemic and its corresponding fallout put a major strain on the financial world. Businesses were forced to shut their doors while adhering to evolving COVID-19 guidelines involving masking and social distancing. Despite these hurdles, the United States has watched as its economy’s come roaring back, thanks to entrepreneurs looking to make good on the opportunities afforded them.

People like Khattab realized how much better it was to own and operate their establishment rather than cater to the needs of a boss. Khattab said in an interview with Ideamensch, “I have my own vision, how to expand the business, and how to put my special ideas into the business.”

Small business owners throughout the United States were mirroring and echoing Khattab’s language, something evident in the growth of small businesses throughout 2021. The number of small businesses recorded in the United States surpassed 32.5 million last year. The United States Small Business Administration defines a small business as a firm with fewer than 500 employees.

The reason for this explosion in small market growth isn’t due entirely to the freedom-loving entrepreneurs of today’s business world. Much of the growth seen in the small business realm has been continued and carried over from efforts dating back to 2017.

Mahmoud Khattab, Precision M.D., and Fostering Small Business Growth

Khattab operates Precision M.D. in California, a state that’s seen the highest number of small businesses in the United States as of early 2021. It’s not always an easy path to navigate. Khattabhas watched as his industry has been overtaken by larger pharmaceutical companies and hospitals. But he wouldn’t have it any other way. Khattab said during an interview, “There is a big difference between working in a hospital versus having your private practice.”

As California’s small businesses comprise nearly 48% of all the state’s active workforce, it’s easy to see why this is such an important topic for Khattab and other Cali residents. The vast majority of these small businesses are concentrated in cities like San Francisco, San Jose, and Los Angeles. Thanks to the sheer size of California and its population, the Golden State has surpassed Texas, the next closest state, in hosting small enterprises by more than 40%.

Khattab points to many of the hurdles that he’s had to overcome in his efforts to establish Precision M.D. in such a crowded field. Khattab says, “It’s a different atmosphere and a different challenge.”

To meet the needs of the constantly evolving medical community, Khattab ensures his practice stays ahead of the pack by embracing growth where it’s available, something much more difficult for larger businesses to accomplish.

This doesn’t mean the job is easy. Khattab admits he has to handle everything from marketing to legal matters. Khattab stated in an interview with Ideamensch, “We don’t achieve anything perfect. We tell them we make things better, try to make you look better and younger but not perfect.”

Khattab says Precision M.D. maintains its reputation through efforts to keep and maintain new technology. He says, “If you visit our practice, you are going to find something that interests you and you will do something in the practice. All of that — it’s a package, how to be successful in business.”

Outside of Texas and California, the top states for small businesses in the United States as of 2021 include Florida, New York, and Illinois. Florida, New York, and Illinois’ combined total of small businesses is just slightly higher than the entire state of California’s.

A Multitasking Small Business Owner

As the CEO of Precision M.D., Khattab has established himself as an industry leader in the medical field, helping others find the aesthetic and cosmetic treatments they need to look and feel better about themselves.

As a valued member of the medical field for the better part of three decades, Khattab has cemented his reputation thanks to his work with Precision M.D., helping clients find the cosmetic services they need to feel their best while living their best lives. Precision M.D. offers surgical and non-surgical options.

In the fight against major medical groups and their takeover of centralized medicine in general throughout California, Khattab and Precision M.D. hope to offer the kind of small-scale, important services individuals are always looking for. Despite his commitment to excellence and focus on customer satisfaction, Khattab is realistic about his efforts. Khattab stated that his biggest challenges were growing his office, handling staff, and balancing performance while retaining flexibility. Overall, however, Khattab says he wouldn’t change a thing, as the price of independence is worth it.

“I think it is very important to keep the private practices in practice in plastic and cosmetic surgery,” he says.
